About The Program

The July National Superintendents Forum is an exclusive opportunity bringing together approximately 70 Superintendents from across the country for a unique blend of professional development and networking opportunities. Our keynote session, “Don’t Flinch – Authentic & Connected Leadership,” sets the tone, emphasizing the importance of genuine leadership in education. Highlighted topic areas include Navigating Career Pathways for High School Students, exploring Lindsay Unified’s Innovative Residency Program, Unlocking Effective Communication Strategies for Districts, Developing Professional Learning Communities, and gaining insights into Intentional Leadership in a Polarized Society. Join us for this transformative event designed to equip Superintendents with valuable insights, resources, and connections to navigate the challenges and opportunities in education leadership.

Topics Of Discussion

Join us as we delve into the essential techniques to foster transparent, collaborative, and impactful communication within school districts. Discover proven methods to engage stakeholders, including parents, teachers, administrators, and the wider community. Learn how to navigate challenges, leverage digital platforms, and cultivate a culture of open dialogue. This session equips you with the tools to enhance communication dynamics and drive positive outcomes in your school district.

Lindsay’s Superintendent Tom Rooney will share how the district has built and sustained a “build your own” pipeline that provides a path for Lindsay graduates to attend college and return to teach in Lindsay through the Lindsay Residency Program.

In this dynamic discussion, we will delve into the innovative approach our high school is taking to prepare students for their future careers. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all curriculum, we are breaking new ground by introducing distinct schools within our high school framework. Through the establishment of specialized schools such as the School of Medicine, School of Education, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, School of Business, School of Fine Arts, School of Law, and School of Liberal Studies, we aim to provide tailored educational experiences that align with diverse career aspirations. Join me in a learning conversation on how high schools can effectively connect students to careers before they leave.

On a Sunday morning in the Fall of 2023, Pulaski County Schools received notification of a cyber security attack on the entire school system. The attackers demanded a ransom to be paid within a day’s time or they threatened to shut down our entire technology infrastructure.
– How did our school division deal with this situation? Were schools closed due to this attack?
– What were the responsibilities of the staff?
– What consequences did we face from the attack?
– What organizations were involved in resolving this situation?
– What were the financial implications of such an attack on the school division?
– How long did it take Pulaski County Schools to repair systems and become fully operational again?
– Most importantly, what did we learn from this attack and how are we preparing our school division for other similar attacks on our technology systems?

In today’s polarized society, effective leadership requires more than just responding to exigencies from all directions. This closing keynote will empower superintendents to cultivate intentional leadership – a proactive approach that shapes, guides, and drives positive change within your district.
Join us as we explore:
– Why Intentionality Matters: Discover the significant impact of intentional leadership on student success, staff development, and overall district effectiveness.
– Beyond Urgency: Learn to differentiate between intentionality and urgency, ensuring your leadership focuses on long-term goals while navigating immediate challenges.
– Leading with Intention: We’ll delve into practical strategies for demonstrating intentional leadership across key areas, including fostering educational equity for all students.

This has been an outstanding conference. The setup has made every meeting and session very intentional supporting the specific needs at my district.

Stephen W. McCanless
Superintendent, Cleveland Independent School District (TX)

RTM has exceeded my expectations. In all my 20 years of attending various conferences and workshops, I learned more at RTM on day 1 alone, and there are 2 more days of this conference! RTM has hit it out of the ballpark!!

Krislynn Dengler
Superintendent, Glens Falls City School District (NY)

I only through the first day and I can already say that this event will have provided a catalyst for change with speed I wouldn’t have had without this experience.
